About Department

The Department of English was established under Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Agra, Apart from being one of the most prestigious departments that runs B.Sc. (General English,) (since 1958), further B.A. (General English, English Literature) (since 1961) and M.A. (English Literature) (since 2025) programmes, it also offers courses in basic English to undergraduate & postgraduate students. The Department aims to engage young minds in creative and analytical thinking through literary studies that can effectively help in building a holistic and healthier human community. This objective is achieved by creating space for students to discuss both local and global issues critically and creatively. In view of it, the texts prescribed in the curricula are thoughtfully selected and taught through discussion, project work, and power point presentation. Students are encouraged to express their views on the questions at issue in order to help them how to think and speak their hearts and minds.
The department of English at BSA PG College offers Bachelors in English (B.A.), & Masters in in English (M.A.). Further, the Department offers such courses as Communication Skills, Business Communication, Technical Communication, etc. These courses are designed mainly to train students in professional communication.
The Department has well-qualified faculty, an advanced language lab, and a literary society to ensure the multifaceted development of students. It also promotes interdisciplinary research and holds regular interactive talks on issues of socio-cultural importance.
