About Department

The Department of Industrial Chemistry was established under Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Agra, Apart from being one of the most prestigious departments that runs B.Sc. IC (since 1997), programmes, it also offers courses in basic Geography to undergraduate students. The Department well equipped laboratory with modern instruments. The department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, slides, models, herbarium which help the students in independent learning.
The Department of Industrial Chemistry falls under the domain of the Faculty of Sciences. The department is running bachelor's course (B.Sc. IC). Industrial Chemistry is one of its kind, of course, as it serves to be a bridge between core chemistry and chemical engineering. The syllabus of B.Sc. IC has been designed specifically to mould the students into industry-ready professionals. Considering the ample number of chemical and pharmaceutical industries in and around India, this course serves to be a job provider to young graduates.
The department offers a vivid infrastructure to students with all types of chemistry lab glassware, apparatus and instruments. There are two chemistry labs for the department- Wet lab and Dry Lab. pH meter, conductivity meter, melting point apparatus, distillation apparatus, viscometer, flash point apparatus, pour point apparatus, muffle furnace, and centrifuge machines are a few of the important instruments available in the laboratory.
The theoretical part of the syllabus teaches in classroom and practical experience given from the various industries like sandwich course. So this subject become helpful for the students to start his own business, as well as to get the job easily in various industries like chemical, ceramics, fertilizer, drugs and dyes, pesticides, cement etc. The department has its large contribution in the progress of the college following were the HOD’s who contributed their valuable service to the department.
