About Department

The Department of Sociology was established under Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Agra, Apart from being one of the most prestigious departments that runs B.A. (since 1965) and M.A. (since 1972) programmes, it also offers courses in basic Sociology to undergraduate & postgraduate students. The Department of Sociology is designed for students who wish to pursue a liberal arts education with a sociological emphasis. This major focuses on sociological perspectives as they are related to social structure, social institutions, social inequality, and the solution to social problems. The department has earned this rare distinction in recognition of its concerted efforts in areas such as intellectual environment encompassing both teachers & students, reminiscent interaction between faculty & students, collaboration with other teaching departments, government and non-government organizations apart from research institutes, infrastructural development and futuristic vision.
The department of Sociology admits students to its programs of studies - Graduate, and Post-graduate from all over the country. The department has produced innumerable scholars, administrators, professionals, social and political activists.
